Study : Project-Based Learning of Entrepreneurship Education in Muurame Upper Secondary School

  • All students who enroll in the Entrepreneurship Education course need to complete a project. For Aaron and his team, their project was to organise a Winter Day Event for schoolmates. The whole event was organised solely by students for students. They had to start preparing the event over one month in advance. They set up meetings with various business owners, made decisions about the schedule, ski equipment rental arrangements and logistics, music, food and beverage.
  • For example, Aaron and his team needed to look for sponsors. They initiated contact first by phone with supermarkets and then meet the personnel-in-charge in person, hoping to persuade them to support the event by offering food and beverage at discounted prices. They learnt to present their ideas clearly and convincingly to attract business owners to give them a good deal.
  • It is evident that the students were able to overcome new challenges in the planning stage with a “just-try-it” attitude and in the process, they learnt to be independent problem solvers and creative event organisers who organised a fun day for all participants to enjoy, which in turn gave them the greatest sense of satisfaction.
